Sweeten the Pot ( poker )

 

1) Raise. "Let's sweeten the pot a little" means "I'm going to raise," and, in a no-limit game, generally portends a large raise.

2) Ante again after an unopened deal in any game with opening requirements, as jacks or better. This phrase is more commonly heard in home games than in card rooms.
